We
would like to take this opportunity to highlight some
of Peter Ross’s life benchmarks. He is the founder
of Forecs, a forensic economics consulting firm. His partner
in this venture was his son Curtis Ross.
Peter
was born in London, England during the Second World War.
At age 2 he and his mother came to Canada and were later
joined by his father who was in the military. They moved
to Sarnia where Peter attended high school. Peter quickly
distinguished himself with his love of sports and his
academic achievement. He was asked to act as Valedictorian
of this high school graduation class.
Peter
enlisted in military college where he took a science curriculum.
He changed directions and returned to London, Ontario
where he entered economics at the University of Western
Ontario (“UWO”). He received and Honours BA
and later a MA in economics. He began his PHD program
in economics at UWO but did not complete the program as
he decided to move on from academia.
He
accepted instructor positions and taught economics at
the University of Regina, University of Alberta and Lambton
College. He joined the Federal Government in 1970 and
moved to Ottawa. While with the Federal Government he
headed the task force in the classification of The Canadian
Classification and Dictionary of Occupations Volume 2
also known as the NOC classification system. His immediate
supervisor was David Dodge the present governor of the
Bank of Canada.
Peter
was not one to rest on his laurels; he entered UWO Law
School in the fall of 1977, graduating in 1980. He was
called to the Bar in 1982. He articled at Lerners in London,
but did not practice law, but took on contract position
with the Federal Government for the next five years.
Peter
Continued his work in forensic economics and immediately
asked his son Curtis a recent UWO graduate to join his
economic consulting practices. Forecs was born specializing
in forensic economics and litigation related economics.
Peter continued his practice until his death on January
30, 2005.
Peter
was a family man with two children Curtis and Kim and
two grandchildren. Peter was a voracious reader and loved
to write and published extensively in variety of publications.
Peter was a visionary in a number of ways able to integrate
his understanding of the law and his ability to garner
his economic insights to develop poignant demonstrations
of his client’s economic position in a lawsuit.
Peter could communicate these very ably at trial as an
expert witness. Peter’s insight led to the development
of the interactive website: www.restitutioeconomics.com
This
website although brilliantly innovative is still a work
in process. The baton has now been handed to Curtis Ross
Manager Economics and Gordon Krofchick CA., C.B.V. who
continue to develop new, relevant, tools for the legal,
insurance and adjusting communities. We are also pleased
to announce that Mr. Saqib Durrani MA Econ, MBA. CFE has
joined our firm and Gordon Krofchick has joined as a principal.
